Spiders of Paiwalla
Photos: Peter Koch ©
Australia has approx. 3,500 described species of spiders. As yet Paiwalla's spiders have had little attention but  many species ranging in size from  1mm to  40mm** have been observed. During the day many species of Jumping Spider can be seen stalking in readiness to pounce on prey while at night Paiwalla comes alive with many thousands of spiders emerging from reed beds and tree bark to spin webs and trap their prey.
The selection of photos below give an indication of their variety.

**The dimension given for a spider is for the body length only eg. head to tail.
